Maddison Lynnette Cunningham ’26 Named Grand View University 2026 Commencement Speaker

Grand View University is proud to announce that Maddison Lynnette Cunningham ’26 will serve as the student speaker for the 2026 Commencement Ceremony.

A senior majoring in Criminal Justice with minors in Psychology and Spanish, Cunningham has made a lasting impact on campus through her leadership, service, and commitment to community. A native of Kansas City, she is an active member of the women’s track and field team and currently serves as Secretary of the Black Student Union.

Throughout her time at Grand View, Cunningham has embraced numerous leadership roles that reflect her passion for helping others and fostering connection. She serves as Viking Council Vice President of Student Life and has been involved as a View Crew member, AmeriCorps Crew Captain, ELEVATE Peer Mentor, Career Center Career Peer Coach, and Writing Tutor. These experiences have shaped her dedication to supporting her peers and creating meaningful change both on and off campus.

Following graduation, Cunningham plans to pursue a career in human services and law, where she hopes to advocate for and empower individuals and communities.

Grand View University’s Commencement Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Casey’s Center in downtown Des Moines. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and no tickets are required to attend.
