Hustedt Named Director of ESports Program

Dana Hustedt, 2016 Grand View alumna, has been named full-time Director of the Grand View University ESports program. Cole McFarland will stay on as the Head Coach. Dana leaves a position at Arthur J. Gallagher as Employee Benefits Account Coordinator to come back to Grand View. The Director positon is responsible for the day to day operations, mission, and program development of Grand View ESports, and will successfully lead and oversee the eSports program.
Jay Prescott, Executive Director of the program says, "We are excited to hire Dana Hustedt as the Director of ESports at Grand View University. Dana brings a wealth of gaming experience and athletic management experience to this position. She is also the first female to direct a university ESports program in the nation. Grand View University is proud to continue to be a pioneer in the competitive ESports arena by hiring Dana as the first woman to lead our program. We look forward to seeing her develop the program focused on student success and team achievement.”
NACE Esports Manager, Layne Shirley is excited, “History has been made today with Grand View University hiring the first female collegiate eSports director. Grand View is not only continuing to show leadership and innovation but they are helping varsity esports take a huge step in the right direction on ways to get more women involved at this level of competition.”
Shirley continues, “We have already seen an increase in female gamers at the varsity level this year but to have Dana become the director of the GVU program is something special. Dana is going to do great things with the Grand View program and we are honored to even be a small part of that!”
