Mariah Koch Earns Spot at Internship
April 10, 2019
Each year the Iowa Downtown Resource Center/Main Street Iowa seeks a graphic design intern to assist in providing direct design related technical assistance to the 54 participating Main Street communities across Iowa. The Iowa Downtown Resource Center (IDRC) team consists of nine highly dedicated downtown revitalization professionals committed to providing high quality technical assistance to communities of all sizes in all areas of the state. This year, Mariah Koch (Graphic Design 2020) was selected from a pool of applicants.
“Mariah is such a people-person, that she is a perfect fit for this position,” said Cyndi Wiley, Associate Professor of Art & Design. “We try to teach ‘soft-skills’ in our classes, such as interview techniques and networking. Mariah naturally fits this learning outcome.”
The intern will work directly with the IDRC team at the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) offices at 200 East Grand in downtown Des Moines. She will produce façade renderings for downtown properties, the graphic identity for the Main Street Iowa awards program, and the graphic identity for the annual statewide Iowa Downtown Conference.
