National Student Nurses Convention
April 7, 2016
Grand View faculty and nursing students attended the 64th Annual NSNA convention in Orlando last week. Grand View nursing students Jon Saxton, Chad Moore, Michaela Pearson, Kim Eich, Breana Sitzman, Allison Hulshizer, and Logan Johnson and graduate Gordon Head represented Grand View as well as Iowa. These individuals did Grand View as well as Iowa and the nursing profession proud as they attended meetings Wednesday through Saturday, often late into the evening. They served as delegates for Grand View in the House of Delegates where business of the national organization was conducted. Part of that business was to review, adopt, or defeat 57 resolutions (position statements about policy of the organization). Two of those resolutions which passed originated at Grand View. Grand View has presented a resolution at the national convention for over 20 years in a row.
Grand View NSA received renewal of the NSNA Stellar Chapter award which was first awarded in 2011. Dr. Jean Logan and Dr. Carolyn Pauling presented "Weaving NSNA into a Nursing Curriculum" breakouts to 100+ faculty and 80+ students. On Saturday evening Dr. Logan and Dr. Pauling were honored with a NSNA Leadership U award for being "pioneers" in developing NSNA activities at Grand View.
