New Members Elected to Board of Trustees

Four new members have joined the Grand View University Board of Trustees: Laura Howe, Mike Moore, Wendy Srnic and Jerry Patterson.

Laura Howe is Community Banking District Manager at Wells Fargo. She is a graduate of Simpson College and began her career with Wells Fargo Financial in Des Moines after graduation. She was promoted into management and has remained with the company. Laura, a strong advocate for team members who give back to the communities in which they work, is a member of several community agencies and associations. She is chair of the Financial Literacy Cabinet for the Central Iowa Volunteer Council, co-chair for the Des Moines Area Community Support Campaign and on the United Way Volunteer Board. Laura and her husband, Casey, have three children –Jaxon, Zoe, and Zara. She loves spending time with her family and enjoys watching their kids be active in athletics.

Mike Moore is Nationwide’s Vice President of Staff Sales for the Western Regions. Previously, he served as Vice President of Business Design and Development for P&C Sales where he was accountable for the design and development of distribution strategies. Mike is proud to be an active member in the community. He currently serves on the Des Moines Partnership Communication Board. Mike enjoys volunteering time at local food pantries and is an annual volunteer/participant for the Race for the Cure. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in business management with a marketing emphasis from Simpson College. Mike resides in Norwalk, Iowa with his wife Lisa, and their three sons.

Wendy Srnic leads the Integrated Field Sciences (IFS) sub-function within the Research & Development organization for Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™. She also serves as a member of the Research & Development Leadership Team. Prior to assuming her current role, Wendy co-led the integration team that designed the IFS organization and then served as the IFS Lead for North and Latin America. Wendy developed a passion for agricultural research growing up on her family’s farm in Michigan. She has lived in six different states and four countries throughout her education and career, and is a passionate advocate and mentor for women in agriculture.

Jerry Patterson is Senior Vice President, Retirement & Investor Services with the Principal Financial Group. Patterson has been a presence in the financial services industry for more than 25 years where he has held a number of diverse and senior roles at some of the nation’s largest financial institutions. Patterson is a national speaker and author on a broad range of issues and topics. He is currently an active board member for the Insured Retirement Institute, Pyramid Theatre Company, Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation (GDPAF), and Association of Business & Industry (ABI). Patterson’s education and early career focus was on accounting and law and he is a member of the Kansas and Missouri bars.
