New Members Elected to Grand View University Board of Trustees

Five new members have joined the Grand View University Board of Trustees: Miriam De Dios, Mary Bontrager, Li Zhao Mandelbaum, Rosalind E.P. Fox, and Espnola “Nola” F. Cartmill.
Miriam De Dios, a native of Jalisco, Mexico, is CEO of Coopera and a senior vice president of Affiliates Management Company. She has significant experience working in the financial services industry and has served as a board member of various non-profit organizations in the Des Moines area. Miriam earned her bachelor’s degree with honors from Iowa State University and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School executive education program. She is currently pursuing her Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa and resides in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mary Bontrager is executive vice president of regional talent development for the Greater Des Moines Partnership, where she oversees all areas of talent recruitment and development, diversity/inclusion and education relations. Mary currently serves on board of several nonprofits in Iowa, including Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, Iowa Collage Access Network (ICAN) Board, and the Leadership Council for United Way’s OpportUNITY initiative. In 2001, she was named to the Des Moines Business Record’s “Women of Influence.” Mary grew up in Exira, Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Interior Design and Marketing.
Li Zhao Mandelbaum is president of China operations for China Iowa Group. Li Zhao is a native of China who has lived in Holland, the U.K., and the U.S. She holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in International Trade and Economics from Central South University in Chengsha, China. Li Zhao has a strong international business background and has worked for several companies in China. For her outstanding professional and civic achievement, she was recognized as The Business Record’s "Forty under 40" in 2011 and with the Governor's Volunteer Award in 2010.
Rosalind E.P. Fox is factory manager at John Deere Des Moines Works, responsible for all aspects of operations including safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and overall profitability. Prior to Deere & Company, Rosalind worked for Ford Motor Company and 3M. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in industrial engineering, both from the University of Missouri at Columbia. In 2008, she completed her Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She was recently ranked one of the Top 26 Powerful Women Engineers by Business Insider. In 2015, she was awarded the Prism Award by the Society of Women in Engineering and 2013 STEP Award Honoree for Women in Manufacturing. Rosalind is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and is married with four step-children. Rosalind closely follows Missouri football and loves Broadway, music concerts, and comedies.
Espnola “Nola” F. Cartmill works at Belin McCormick focusing on employment and family law. She has litigated cases before Iowa’s district and appellate courts as well as the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Nola was named to The National Black Lawyers 40 Under 40 (2016), the Des Moines Business Record “Forty Under 40” Award (2016), and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute (2011-2012). Nola grew up Fort Madison, Iowa, and earned her B.A. from the University of Iowa and her J.D. at Harvard University. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. Nola also enjoys powerlifting, reading, acquiring more shoes than she knows what to do with, and traveling with her partner in crime. She is an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.
