Prairie Meadows Grants Advance Nursing Education and Celebrate Grand View Student Athletes
August 13, 2025
Grand View University has received Prairie Meadows grants that will bring state-of-the-art training technology to nursing students and celebrate student-athletes’ accomplishments.
“Projects like these enrich the lives and experiences of Iowans, creating opportunities and a brighter future for all,” said Julie Stewart, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Prairie Meadows. “We’re proud to invest in initiatives that help our communities grow and thrive.”
Prairie Meadows grants of $30,000 (2025) and $79,964 (2024) have allowed Grand View’s Nursing Department to upgrade training technology in the Grand View Nursing Simulation Suite. Nursing students now learn and practice with a high-fidelity patient manikin, which provides the most realistic experience possible in a patient care simulation environment.
With the 2025 grant, a simulated medication distribution cart will be added to allow nursing students to train on equipment that mirrors the hospital systems they will use after graduation. “Prairie Meadows’s incredible generosity is helping to send Grand View nursing graduates into the workforce equipped with the skills needed to provide exceptional patient care,” said Dr. Rachelle Keck, Grand View University President. “As Iowa experiences a shortage of nurses, Grand View is proud to partner with Prairie Meadows to ensure our nursing graduates are well-prepared to meet patient and community needs.”
Prairie Meadows grants are also celebrating Grand View student-athletes’ excellence by supporting the 2025 and 2026 Viktors. The Viktors is an annual event that hosts more than 800 student-athletes, coaches, and their supporters for an evening honoring all of Grand View’s athletic teams. Along with celebrating athletic performance, the night highlights individuals and teams who excel academically and in the values of the Champions of Character® program—integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
“Grand View student-athletes work hard all year, and it is wonderful to celebrate them as excellent athletes, students, and people,” said LB Lyons, Grand View’s Vice President for Advancement. “Prairie Meadows helps Grand View make that possible.”
