Doug grew up in Los Angeles and Denver before coming to Des Moines for college and has been here ever since! He worked as a staff photographer for The Des Moines Register for 28 years prior to landing at Grand View University.

Professionally, Doug has won many awards for his photography including the Society of Professional Journalists award for feature photography, Awards of Excellence from the National Press Photographers Association and has been named a Pulitzer Prize nominee twice.
