About

Dr. Nowak received his doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) in 2014, and his masters in mental health counseling from UB in 2009. He received bachelor’s degrees in English and Communication from Canisius College, in Buffalo. Having previously worked for several years in forensic mental health and addictions, Dr. Nowak has been teaching both online, hybid, and on campus CMHC classes for the past 14 years, as a full-time associate professor as well as an adjunct. He also is involved in online program and course construction as a consultant, and is a Nationally Certified Counselor from the NBCC. Dr. Nowak’s previously published research has been centered around gambling disorder, specifically with college students and student-athletes, and is currently examining the use of artificial intelligence in mental health counseling and counselor education, and has presented several times on the subject to the SUNY system in various symposia.
