Dr. Lagier Creates Real-World Learning Opportunity for Biology Students

Dr. Adriana Lagier, Professor of Biology at Grand View University, is bringing career-connected learning into the classroom through a new project developed on the CIC Work-Based Learning Individual Educator Portal’s Riipen platform.

The experience invites biotech, healthcare, and nutraceutical companies to partner with students in a General Biology course on a mock study exploring the health impacts of nutritional supplements. Students will apply foundational biological concepts, conduct literature reviews, and build science communication skills as they work through real-world scenarios.

The project offers a two-way benefit: students gain practical experience and exposure to industry expectations, while companies receive fresh insights and innovative thinking tied to supplement research.
