Dr. Michael LaGier Joins Global Research Effort on Antibiotic Resistance
October 17, 2025
Dr. Michael LaGier, Professor of Biology at Grand View University, has been invited to join the PARE (Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment) project, a global research initiative funded by the National Science Foundation and led by Dr. Carol Bascom Slack at Tufts University. The project brings together researchers and students from around the world to study how antibiotic resistance genes and microbes are distributed in the environment.
As a new PARE collaborator, Grand View will give STEM students the chance to participate in meaningful, hands-on research that connects classroom learning with real-world science. Students will collect and analyze local samples, contribute to a global database, and help advance understanding of this critical public health issue.
