Grand View’s Jacobson Institute Introduces CareerEdge Credential for Student Career Development
October 7, 2026
Grand View University’s Jacobson Institute has launched the CareerEdge Credential, a new opportunity designed to help students develop and demonstrate skills that are valuable in today’s workplace.
The CareerEdge Credential brings together five stackable certificates focused on career and leadership development. Grand View students can complete the certificates at no cost at any point during their college experience, giving them an opportunity to build skills beyond their academic coursework and strengthen their professional preparation. Students who complete all five certificates earn the CareerEdge Credential.
“Today’s students need more than knowledge in their chosen field. They also need the skills and experiences that help them communicate, collaborate, lead, and adapt in the workplace,” said Dr. Skylar Mayberry-Mayes, executive director of the Jacobson Institute at Grand View University. “The CareerEdge Credential gives students a flexible way to intentionally develop those skills while they are in college and have a way to demonstrate that development to future employers.”
The first certificate available through CareerEdge focuses on leadership development. Additional certificates provide students with opportunities to build a range of transferable skills that can complement any major or career path.
The CareerEdge Credential reflects the Jacobson Institute’s broader focus on preparing learners with the skills they need to navigate an evolving workforce. Established through a gift from the late Dick Jacobson, the institute has recently refocused its work on innovation in education and supporting workforce needs for 2030 and beyond.
“At Grand View University, we believe education should equip students not only with knowledge, but with demonstrated workplace skills. The CareerEdge Credential provides students with meaningful opportunities to develop career-ready competencies, demonstrate their capabilities to employers, and graduate with a distinct advantage as they enter the workforce,” said Grand View University President Rachelle Keck.
