Grand View Faculty-Student Research Leads to PubMed-Indexed Publication

A research collaboration between Grand View University biology professor Adriana LaGier and undergraduate student Jonathan Featherston has resulted in a scientific publication now indexed in PubMed.

Featherston, who graduated from Grand View in April 2026, worked with LaGier on research examining how mechanical vibration affects gene expression in human cells. Their findings were recently published in microPublication Biology in a study titled “Vibration reduces transcript levels of the Golgi-associated gene GOLGA2 in HeLa cells.”

The publication highlights the hands-on research opportunities available to Grand View students and the opportunity to work alongside faculty on research that contributes to the broader scientific community.

For LaGier and Featherston, the publication is the latest result of a faculty-student research collaboration that began while Featherston was an undergraduate at Grand View.
