Beolyn Ntirampeba, a student at Grand View University, has been awarded the highly competitive Gilman Scholarship to support her study abroad experience in Madrid, Spain during Summer 2026. She is double majoring in Secondary Education and Spanish and is preparing for a future career dedicated to inclusive and globally minded teaching.
Originally from Burundi and born and raised in Tanzania, Beolyn brings a rich and diverse cultural perspective to her academic journey. Her background has shaped her passion for education and her commitment to supporting English language learners, with a strong focus on helping students build confidence and succeed in the classroom.
Through the Gilman Scholarship, Beolyn will study Spanish language and culture at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid. This immersive experience will allow her to strengthen her Spanish fluency while deepening her understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. She hopes these experiences will directly enhance her effectiveness as an educator and expand her ability to connect with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
In addition to her academic work, Beolyn is a member of the Grand View University women’s soccer team, where she has developed strong leadership, teamwork, and time management skills. Balancing athletics and academics has further prepared her for the demands of teaching and reinforced her ability to adapt, collaborate, and lead with purpose.
Beolyn’s study abroad opportunity reflects both her academic dedication and her long-term goal of becoming an educator who creates inclusive and supportive learning environments.
