May 11, 2026

Grand View University will host its Esports Overwatch Summer Camp June 19–21 in the Esports Arena located in Nielsen Residence Hall, offering participants an opportunity to sharpen their gameplay and grow as competitive players both in and out of the game.

The three-day camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day and is open to participants ages 13 and older, welcoming all levels of esports experience.

Led by Overwatch Head Coach Kale Kester and Director of Esports Nathan Ragsdell, the camp is designed to help players strengthen their understanding of Overwatch while building skills that translate across many esports titles.

With more than 10 years of esports experience, Grand View’s coaching staff will guide attendees through key fundamentals of competitive gameplay, while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Camp topics will include teamwork, how to practice effectively, strategy development, maps, macro and micro play, pattern recognition, specificity and fight planning, vision and visual aggro, and awareness and game sense through the predictability principle.

Participants will gain hands-on experience learning what it takes to become not only a stronger player, but also a better teammate in a competitive environment.

Lunch will be provided each day by GV Esports, and all attendees will receive a Grand View Esports t-shirt as part of their camp experience.

The camp offers a unique opportunity for young gamers to learn directly from experienced coaches in a collegiate esports setting, helping them better understand the key skills necessary to thrive in Overwatch and beyond.
