Student Ministries

Student Ministries is the biggest way we live our mission of reflecting Christ within the Grand View community for the transformation of the world. Student Ministries is all about students leading ministries. Student-led Bible studies, service projects, outreaches, worship services, small groups, prayer groups, and so much more. Check out the areas below to learn a little more about who we are and what we do to reflect Christ on campus.

Worship

Worship is an important part of the Christ-following life. We have many ways to engage in worship on campus from our traditional weekly Chapel service on Tuesdays, to our more organic and contemporary student-led evening services, to services around holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and Ash Wednesday. We welcome people from all denominations and even those of no faith.

Bible Study

We believe that the Bible is trustworthy and true and that studying in community brings growth and understanding to people at all places in their faith walk. So, we work hard to create many opportunities for students to gather, read, discuss, and live out scripture together.

Student Ministry Team

We believe that it is our job as a campus ministry to equip the Christian leaders of the future. Every year we hire approximately 15 students to be on the Student Ministry team. As members of this team, they work together to facilitate ministry on campus, build Christian community, and encourage dialogue and growth around matters of faith.

outreach

Outreach

Every year a group of students work together to find ways to bless our campus with the love of Jesus. This looks different every year but is always centered around giving away the kindness, mercy, love, and compassion that comes from God.

FCA student athlete at Grand View

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Grand View University has a lot of athletes on campus! We are so happy to have a relationship with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) here in Des Moines and to partner with them to serve our athletes on campus. FCA meets the spiritual needs of athletes by praying for them before games, fostering Christian community, being a place to go in hard times, and so much more. If you’re an athlete, come be a part of FCA!

catholics

Viking Catholics

Grand View is a Lutheran University but we know that there are a lot Catholic students here as well. We want to support them in their faith walk, so we have a fantastic relationship with St. Catherine of Siena and the Neumann Center at Drake as a way of providing a space for Catholics to stay connected to the Catholic community.
